Probate is the process whereby the Court oversees the administration
of the estate of a person who has died, if his assets subject
to probate exceed $100,000. This process can be avoided if
a proper estate plan is developed as discussed in the earlier
section. When a probate is required, we strive to make the
process as easy as possible for the family, and to handle
matters efficiently with minimum delays. Additional support
can be provided for special circumstances, such as real estate
sales, agreements among beneficiaries about asset transfers
or competing petitions to become administrator. Walt also
provides support in establishing Conservatorships for incapacitated
seniors and Guardianships for minors. He has served on the
Probate Volunteer Panel of the Superior Court over the past
five years, where he has provided assistance in numerous cases
involving conservatorships, guardianships and trust matters.
